이 프로젝트는 이방인으로서 나의 개인적인 경험을 기록하는 데서 시작해, 카메라 옵스큐라라는 원초적인 사진 작업 방식을 활용하여 나를 포함한 다양한 이방인의 이야기를 그들의 공간과 풍경을 통해 스틸 사진과 에세이 영상으로 담아낸다. 카메라 옵스큐라 안에서는 창밖의 상 像이 상하좌우가 뒤집혀 개인의 공간으로 투영된다. 어둠 속에서 안과 밖의 이미지가 뒤섞이며 낯설고 비현실적인 순간을 자아내는데, 이러 한 이미지들 속에서 인물의 몸과 공간은 기억을 저장하고 연결하는 매개체가 되어 다양한 삶의 풍경을 이야기한다. 때로 이러한 이미지들은 이방인으로서 느끼는 ‘어딘가에 소속되고픈 열망’과 ‘불완전한 자유로움’이라는 양가적인 감정 속 혼란을 탐구하기도 하고, 자본주의사회에 서 뷰(view)가 상징하는 경제적/사회적 의미와 가치에 대해 질문하며 풍경이 우리에게 미치는 영향과 그것에 대한 욕망에 관해 이야기하기 도 한다.
This project originated from my personal experience as an extraterrestrial being and aims to capture the narratives of various aliens by transforming their surroundings and perspectives into camera obscura. The camera obscura serves as a mirror, reflecting the outside world into the intimate space of each individual and inverting its orientation. In the darkness, the amalgamation of interior and exterior images creates a magical moment, where the body and space intertwine as vessels of memory, recounting diverse life experiences within the obscura. These images often delve into the complex emotions of both belonging and freedom, exploring the unsettling nature of existence while examining the significance and impact of societal views within a capitalistic framework, as well as our innate desires.
